You know how you see the shampoo commercials on T.V. and the model’s hair shines like glass on fire? You pick up that product, reverently open the bottle, perform the sacred ritual, knowing you’ll be transformed into someone new, filled with vibrancy and so stunningly beautiful heads will turn the moment you step in the room and you wind up with squat! Another product to put on the shelf to collect dust. Like a lover who didn’t live up to their promise. I’ve found the holy grail!  SHU UEMURA Full Shimmer Illuminating Treatment. Actually I must give credit where credit is due, this was recommended to me by a friend, thanks Doug.

I had gone to the salon and had a Kerastase treatment that left my hair incredibly shiny. It lasted for about a week and sigh no more shiny. Turns out it’s an in salon only treatment and you can’t purchase it. WHAT? I hate that. So I was bitching and Doug said I will bring you something to try. OMG! This SHU UEMURA Full Shimmer Illuminating Treatment was even better than what I had at the salon. My hair feels like mink, shines like an untouched toddler’s hair, and smells delicious. Really. So many people have stopped me and asked what I’ve had done. New color? New cut? New stylist? None of the above, just a quarter size amount of a long sought miracle.

In the interest of full disclosure it’s a bit pricey. Worth it! My hair is long, mid-back, curly, processed and thick, this first tub lasted me about four months. I have found that when using the Full Shimmer I don’t need to use any other product when blowing my hair out. No frizz control, shine serum or hair spray. Just shampoo and the Full Shimmer treatment. I get an extra day too before having to wash and blow out again so that’s putting me at 4 days instead of 3. Is it worth the $68 to me? You bet. If my hair looks good, I feel good even when I’m just in yoga pants and a tee.
